On stage, Kris relates to her audience without pretense and
plays with infectious joy, revealing an exceptional sense of
personal grounding. Having made an art of weaving together
her many talents and callings, Kris stands out in the range,
sustenance and overall integrity of her professional activities. As
a child in Brooklyn, Kris worked toward a career as a concert
cellist. Later she studied photography and worked as an
elementary school teacher. Eventually, she became a writer, and
then a farmer. The passion in Kris's life is reflected in her
music; her rhythmic guitar style and warm, effortless voice
deliver songs that are lyrically memorable and emotionally true,
weaving their spell around anyone in earshot.
Clearly she’s doing something right, having sold 25,000
copies of her first two discs, "Appetite" and "Five Stories", on the
strength of strong performances and word-of-mouth alone.
She's toured the USA and Europe with Dar Williams, Chris
Smither, Catie Curtis, and Mary Gauthier. Along the way sheâ
€™s garnered six Boston Music Award nominations, first place in
the 2001 Telluride Troubadour Songwriter Competition, and
inclusion in a stack of DJ top ten lists from coast to coast.
